I had decided I would not continue the blog on this trip, and I fully expected I would get the itch. While it is personally satisfying to create these short accounts of life on the road, it is also full of technical frustrations and consumes quite a bit of time during travels. When an interesting sight or funny sign or colorful roadside stand appears, one of us will say, “that would be a great blog shot”. As the collection of these moments built up, I felt a stronger pull to just write up a few things, a couple of highlights to share. So, here is an attempt to record a few.
3/22/22 – NH to Martinsburg WV
After pulling a camper 504 miles from New Hampshire, it is a great relief to pull in for the night, even when you don’t know what to expect. This overnight stay was at the Rusty Nail Winery, This was our first Harvest Host stay, we were the only RV camping that night in a small field adjacent to the winery with no hook ups, no power no water. Three horses were in the field nearby. The host was colorful, and provided an entertaining tasting of his wines. Most of the wines were sweet, produced from regional grapes. As vintner, he strived to keep the alcohol level below 11% to keep the flavors of the grapes. While staying at a somewhat remote location, the road had some noisy traffic during the night.

3/23 – to Mosheim TN
Overnight stay at the Good Water Winery, Harvest Host
When we arrived at the Good Water, Sam, the host/owner told us they did not accept reservations at this time of year due to the wet fields and mud conditions. Linda explained we had reservations with Laura, and showed the image provided for parking the RV. Following negotiations, Sam agreed to allow us to park providing we do not get the truck or camper stuck in the wet fields. Our parking was successful, the reward was an enjoyable tasting with Sam who had a good sense of humor. The wines here were also mostly sweet, but plentiful and of great variety. Goodwater owns several wineries and buys from most area vineyards. While we were there, they were bottling a fresh batch of Pink Catawba champagne, we were given a taste of chilled Catawba direct from the bottling station, yummy !!

John, so glad you decided to blog, no matter how brief! Enjoy reading them. Thank you!!
