Ashford, Washington

Sunday 10/10

Snow is forecast in the mountain passes today.  We chose a route which follows the valleys in the rain, and will not tow the camper with snow on roads.  On the drive out of Portland Oregon, the GPS route we are following is interrupted by closure of Interstate 84.  Really ?? While detours are disruptive, they are more disruptive when a truck towing a camper gets side tracked onto unknown urban roads.  The detour worked out for us with some quick changes to avoid trouble.

Camp is at Mounthaven Resort in Ashford, Washington. This is a small campground with a small sign, narrow entrance drive, and 17 sites.  Our camper is parked next to four old growth western cedar trees.  It is a really majestic place to park.  Too bad it is cold and rainy.

Overnight, we were joined by a mouse in the camper for the first time. At first it was the unknown rusting and scratching.  During the night, Linda captured the little devil in a towel, who got tossed outside.  The next night, Victor traps were set.  The perpetrator who was “wanted, dead or alive” returned to the scene, and perished.

During this encounter, I discovered a minor leak, where new compression fittings were dripping, either due to the cold temperatures or a higher water pressure, or both.  Emergency repair time, tighten the three fittings.

With an early arrival here today, there was time for a short visit into Rainier in the afternoon.  Below are a few pictures.
