   Quartz Mountain is far off the beaten track, there is not much to attract tourists nearby, other than the park. The lake is a prime attraction, and the sandstone mountain scape, and four wheeler tracks on the other side. A short bike ride was good for us during the brisk morning, the afternoon brought high winds again as forecast.  We found an easy trail away from the lake and the sandstorm, and got the legs moving and found some interesting cacti and flowing plants. 

   The park has a lodge which is a blend of classic and modern, very well implemented.  The Foggy Bottom restaurant had a menu with local dishes.  The food was excellent, as was the local brew, a Stone Cloud ‘Night” dark beer.
